The Atlas of Soil Profiles Reenvisioned
The second piece in my 'reenvisioned' series is a photorealistic reconstruction of a pedology illustration from W. L. Kubiëna's beautiful 'Atlas of Soil Profiles', 1954. Kubiëna, the father of soil micromorphology, hired two artists to create watercolours for the book. The original painting was by an Austrian artist called Gertrud Kallab Purtscher. Modelled, textured, and rendered in Blender. Compositing done in photoshop.
